June 2014

June 2014

The plan was to start June with a three day fishing trip to Big Lake

After a blow out on the trailer , running over a submerged rock jetty and 2 hour tow back to the marina we called it quits.

The weekend was not a total loss as Kristen brought the kids over Saturday afternoon and spent the night.  Of course a visit to the pool was necessary.

While we were chilling in the pool Nathan and Kristin were battling bad weather again !!

One of many trees down in Jonesboro Ar after high winds pass through town.

Debi and her sisters gave Brianna a Bridal Shower at Diane's house.

Most of the family attended 4pm mass at St Rita's then celebrated Fathers day with a great meal at Sombrero's

Only 113 days until I DO !!!!

I stopped by and visited Bert Sr (and Marie) for Fathers Day.

We completed a fiber optic cable crossing the Red River in Alexandria.

On Thursday June 19th I joined my friend Dave Gary aboard the MY GIRLS for a three day fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico.

We departed from Orange Beach Marina Thursday evening around 7pm.

On our way out

We ran all night to the south and east for 70 miles to an area known as Horn Mountain.  At first light we set our lines and began our troll along a grass line rip.  The water was beautiful and the rip holding bait but we had little luck.

Small Black Fin Tuna

Another small fish on.

At sunset we picked up our lines and ran 18 miles south and west to Horn Mountain.

We spent the night fishing around this deep water rig at Horn Mountain.

At first light we set out our troll and began the search for Mr. Yellow Fin and his friend Blue Marlin.

With no hits to our offerings and some weather moving in we picked up our lines and moved 30 miles Northwest.

Water spout.

Our new location offered a great rip.  I have never before seen such a distinct separation between the blue and green water.

We had a couple of hook ups and fought a few fish but failed to put one of these monsters in the boat.

This Pilot Whale swan by for a quick visit.

Saturday night we slept between the pilings at the mouth of the Mississippi River at Port Eads.

Port Eads

Port Eads Lighthouse and Lodging.
Sunday morning we traveled the 112 miles from Port Eads to Orange Beach Marina.

Lots of rigs in this area of the gulf.

We stopped and fished a few wrecks along the way,

I stayed Sunday night with David and First Mate Stephen on the boat at Orange Beach Marina.  We spent all of Monday morning cleaning the boat and putting things back in order.  I made it back to Lafayette around 7pm - Very tired !!

June brought tragedy to our family.

In the early morning hours on June 25th our Brother In Law, Kevin Sanchez passed away.

From Christmas 2012

From Nathan's and Kristin's Wedding.

He will be missed !!!!

We closed out the month by traveling to St George Island.

Beach Photos to come in July.
