The Thumb

The State of Michigan has two major parts , The Upper Peninsula and The Mitten.  North of the UP is Lake Superior, On the west side of the Mitten is Lake Michigan and the east side is Lake Huron.  If you hold up your right hand with the Palm facing you that would be the basic shape of the "Mitten" .  Ann Arbor would be below your thumb near your wrist.
Saturday we drove around the thumb along the coast.  We stopped at fine arts fair in Lexington then continued to Port Austin at the "Top of the Thumb".  We attended 4pm Mass there then turned South down the center of the thumb back to Detroit and on to Ann Arbor.  It was cloudy with an occasional light mist so temps were in the high 70's and low 80's.  Although it was in the upper 90's in mass -no AC.
